“(It’s A) Shame” features poignant lyrics written & sung by Gail Harris with haunting music composed by Robert E. Christian, Jr.

Producer Jere B takes these original vocals, recorded 32 years ago into a cassette recorder and re-imagines the entire arrangement, adding Clifford Barnes’ contemplative piano to the mix to create a thought provoking, challenging, yet inspirational anthem for relationships which have come to the end of the road.

Throughout the Summer of 24, SounDoctrine is going Waaaay Back into the archives!

33 Years to be exact – a pre-SounDoctrine era when Jere B, Bub C, Phil The Beat, Drew and the late, great Gary Jones were trying to set the earth on fire with our unique blend of Soul, Funk, R&B and Hip Hop. We called the noise we made CHOCOLATE PULSE and began enlisting some of the most fabulous gifts Youngstown,Ohio had to offer during those years.

In the Summer of 1992, Bub C composed a haunting, melodic ballad and the ever brilliant, fiery Gail Harris, who along with her sister Angela were forming their duet “2 Elegant” surged into the transparent, moving lyrics. She titled the tune “(It's A) Shame” and proceeded to crush the vocals, leaving her heart on the floor.

Unfortunately one thing lead to several and Chocolate Pulse folded, along with 2 Elegant without having released any of our adventurous music into the major markets. Overtime the compulsion to resurrect these songs became an overwhelming obsession. The Time is Now!

Using All of the Original Vocal Tracks (which had been recorded into a Tascam 688, 8 Track Cassette and sung into with a Shure SM-57 and even a Radio Shack 33-128 [YUP!]), Several years later Cliff Barnes provided the evocative Piano & Strings . This Year Jere B rebuilt new music around the tracks. 

“(It's A) Shame” hearkens back to that place where Funk, Soul and R&B reigned! Grown Folk Music!
